Dr. Roger Morrell
Roger is a ceramics specialist who has been at National Physical Laboratory, Hampton Road, Teddington, Middlesex, U.K. for over 35 years, researching issues of characterisation and measurement of specialist ceramic and glass-ceramic materials. He has authored or co-authored four books, seven good practice guides and more than 120 scientific papers, as well as a large number of reports for commercial customers, from small measurement jobs to larger contract studies on a wide variety of ceramic-related topics. He lectures on the subjects of design with ceramics and of fractography as a diagnostic tool. He is internationally recognised for his role in the development of formal standards for characterisation of advanced ceramic materials, and has been Convenor of CEN TC184/WG3 since its inception in 1989, as well as Convenor of the Advisory Group in ISO TC206, He has also been heavily involved in international method validation studies through CEN, ESIS and VAMAS. He was awarded the Verulam Medal of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining in 2003.
Roger has a part-time guest chair at the University of Leoben in Austria.
