CIEC 19

19th European Inter-Regional Conference on Ceramics
February, 11th – 13th, 2025

Since 1988, the European Inter-Regional Conference on Ceramics (CIEC) has been organised every two years, starting from four founding European regions. Over the past two decades, the number of participating regions has grown steadily, now covering more than ten across Europe. The last conference, organised by Mechanical Spectroscopy Group (IPHYS) was held in February 2024.

With the return to the regular rhythm of in-person meetings, the 19th CIEC Conference will be hosted by Chair of Structural and Functional Ceramics  and will take place from 11 to 13 February 2025 in Leoben, Austria.

This conference will address all scientific aspects related to ceramics, including processing, structural characterisation, properties, and industrial applications of monolithic ceramics, ceramic composites, glass, and ceramic coatings. A particular focus is placed on fostering collaboration between young researchers, supporting networking initiatives, and promoting European research projects. The event is open to all ceramic scientists across Europe.

The programme will feature invited lectures, oral presentations, and poster contributions. Committee members and their research groups will provide updates on their activities since CIEC17. A lively poster session, especially designed to highlight the work of young researchers, will be an integral part of the event. Their participation will be encouraged through reduced registration fees and a poster contest.

Selected lectures and posters will be invited to submit a paper for a special issue of the Journal of the European Ceramic Society.

Topics of the Conference

Ceramics, glasses, 3D printed ceramics, CAD/CAM ceramics Modelling and statistical evaluation of the fracture processes
Theory of the brittle failure Quantitative fractography, fractal analysis
Fractography in the materials development Indentation failure/damage
